Professional CVs are those with the strong content, not the design ..

In this article, we will go through all the processes of writing a Professional CV .. Let's start from the scratch

1) Main Title: the CV shouldn't have a ( Curriculum Vitae ) main title on the first page to be a good CV, actually, as you are sending this to the HR e-mail of any company, they know that this is a CV. So, we should replace that Main Title with ( Your Full Name ) .. (ex. Mark Jefferson Smith )

2) Color: CV should be written in Black color ( ONLY BLACK ) - except for the photo, it's preferred to be colored

3) Photo: Don't provide a photo in your CV unless it's necessary for the job, or the employer asked candidates to send their CVs with recent photo

4) E-mail: this is a CV, we should actually provide a professional e-mail, an e-mail that contains your full name will be perfect (ex. [ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذا الرابط]) if the name is not available , you can add your birthday to the e-mail ( ex. [ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذا الرابط] ) because some people have e-mails that prevent them later on from being called by employers ( these stuff can be like [ندعوك للتسجيل في المنتدى أو التعريف بنفسك لمعاينة هذا الرابط] ... etc. ) this can be a negative point when your CV is being processed .

5) Objective : this is the most important thing we should actually be doing when writing our CVs. Because it tells the employer where exactly you wanna be working, if you didn't set it for a specific position because you don't know in which department you actually fit, don't expect from the HR People to actually Guess that for you.

So, Objectives

A. Should Be Specific: Clearly identify facts about a work situation.
B. Should Be Directional: Focus on your future to identify steps to take and information to seek. Your focus can be short- or long-term.
C. Should Be Personal: Others may share similar goals, but your objective should state your goals in terms that you are comfortable with.
D. Should Be Action-oriented: You take control of your life and communicate to an employer what you can do in action terms.

E. Should Be A Commitment: Stating a goal identifies who you are and what you want to achieve.

Components of Career Objective Include
1:Identifying the career field category allows you to specify a broad area you are interested in without limiting yourself to specific titles.
2.The position you are seeking if you know you will be applying for a specific position
3:The specific skills you want to learn and develop, and the kind of company you would like to work for

Objective Samples :

Accounting: I am exploring strategic opportunities within an organization focusing on internal audit positions. Specifically, I can bring you experience and success in improving business processes, excellent financial analysis.

Management: To obtain a Senior Program Manager, Process Management or Quality oriented position with a company committed to continuous improvement and on time delivery of products and/or services.

IT Director: Dynamic senior project manager with over fifteen years experience. Expreience in ecommerce in multiple industires such as Healthcare and Financial services. Creative, persasive, and multi-disciplinary problem solver with a high degree of emotional intelligence.

6) Personal Information : Shouldn't contain ( Marital Status, Religion, Gender, ID Number, How many Dependants, Passport Number )
You shouldn't also mention Nationality: unless you are non-Egyptian

Note: All the following items should be written in a descending order from the most recent to the oldest. and all the dates listed should contain the month and year

ex. from june 1999 to july 1999

7) Qualifications : there are many factors to consider here,

If it's a university: we should list the following

Faculty - University Name : years of study from .. to ..
Major :
Grade / GPA

Cool Experience : you should list it as the following

Position held - employer - from ... to ...
Responsibilities, If you don't know the main responsibilities you have been holding, you can write the main tasks you did, and try to add the words like ( Successful, Achievement, Accomplished .. etc. ) words that reflects positive and strong attitude ..

9) Skills :
Computer Skills

* If you have the ICDL Certificate, then don't list all of the courses, and all of the windows versions, and that you can browse the internet, just say this ( Holder of the ICDL Certificate )
* If you have any other computer Skills, you can list it as the following
o Software / program / OS - and level of skilling that thing
o for example : Photoshop - Basic

Language Skills:

* Here we shouldn't write the table : listening, speaking and reading for each language,
* you just write the language and the level of proficiency which ranges from
o native : person whose language is the mother tongue
o fluent : person who is excellent in a language
o advanced : less than fluent
o intermediate : Moderate level of language
o Basic : fair knowledge

10) Additional points which can be of value if job related

* Core Competencies
* Memberships
* Extra-Curricular Activities
* References

Last Advice, I would like to say that we should have a number of our CVs prepared for different positions in which each CV has job related skills, experience

for example, if you are working as a marketing manager, and you give trainings in marketing

* you should have one CV as a marketing manager you should focus mainly the skills related to that managerial position as a manager
* for the marketing trainer: you should focus mainly the skills related to teaching and instructing

Remember, the HR Person filtering CVs only has very limited time , can be one minute maximum, so try not to write a 10 page CV for example if you are not that experienced

Preferred Arrangement of the sections of the CV :

1. Contact Information
2. Personal Information
3. Qualifications
4. Certifications
5. Work Experience
6. Skills
7. References

Any other categories can be added between work experience and skills

* Post-graduate studies are included in the section of Qualifications
* Any Job Related Achievement, Project .. etc. should be listed in the position held in the Work Experience

Don't mention the Personal Skills you possess ... Because this should be kept for getting you a seat for the interview ..

If you used it in the CV, you might not get a call from employers because they already know the skills you possess, but if you showed it in the interview only, that will be a great advantage ..
